It all starts off with a love story….

Cherry and Tom met over 40-years ago in 1973 when Cherry was sent to Michigan as an exchange-student from the Philippines. They were 17 and 18 and fell madly in love! When Cherry turned 18, Tom asked her to marry him but she had to return home for college. In order to pursue her, Tom joined the Navy but was stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii!

Things didn’t work out the way they planned.

They went separate ways but after 35 years and living on different continents, they got back together and married on a tropical beach in Honolulu, Hawaii.

The newlyweds settled in western Michigan on Tom’s farm that had a beautiful 100-year old barn! Using his skills as a Navy Seabee, Tom, together with his son-in-law, restored and renovated the barn which Cherry lovingly decorated. They called it “The Little Red Barn of Nunica LLC”.

With Tom’s retirement from the Navy, his expertise in building and construction skills, and with Cherry’s 30-year experience in event-planning, they embarked on a mission to provide the perfect country venue for rustic one-of-a-kind weddings! With their combined talents, Tom and Cherry Schmidt are dedicated to help couples personalize the most memorable day of their lives!
